Terms of Service
Last updated: September 1, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Blade Base application operated by Tough Cut LLC ("Tough Cut," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use this application.
2. Services Provided
Blade Base provides ice hockey blade sharpening, profiling, cross-grinding, and related skate services via drop-off, shop visit, and mail-in fulfillment. We also operate The Bench, a peer-to-peer marketplace for new and used skates and skate steel, and offer optional recurring membership plans.
3. Accounts & Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent, to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it updated.
4. Orders & Payment
All payments are processed securely through Stripe, Inc. By placing an order, you authorize Tough Cut to charge your selected payment method for the amount displayed at checkout, including applicable Tennessee sales tax where required.
For mail-in orders, payment is authorized at booking and captured upon service completion. For membership plans, you authorize recurring charges on the billing cycle you select. All charges will be clearly disclosed before you confirm.
For team campaign orders, by registering your payment method you authorize Tough Cut to charge your card at the time of batch settlement once the campaign window closes.
5. Memberships
- Memberships (Elite, Family) are annual commitments billed monthly or annually.
- Early cancellation may result in a clawback fee calculated as the difference between retail and member pricing for services already received, up to a maximum of $399. See the full Cancellation Policy within the Account page for details.
- Memberships cannot be paused or frozen.
- Tough Cut reserves the right to adjust membership pricing with reasonable advance notice.
6. The Bench Marketplace
- The Bench is a curated peer-to-peer marketplace. All listings are reviewed and approved by Tough Cut before going live.
- Sellers submit items with a suggested price; Tough Cut may counter-propose a final price to ensure fair market value.
- A listing fee applies and is non-refundable once a listing goes live.
- Tough Cut facilitates the transaction and may assist with logistics but is not a party to the sale contract between buyer and seller.
- All items are sold as-is unless otherwise stated. Tough Cut does not provide warranties on marketplace items.
- Fraudulent listings or misrepresentation of item condition will result in account suspension.
7. Service Liability
Tough Cut takes reasonable care when performing skate services. However, we are not liable for pre-existing damage to equipment, normal wear and tear, or damage resulting from equipment that was already compromised prior to service. If you believe a service caused damage to your equipment, please contact us within 7 days of service completion.
8. Mail-In Service
For mail-in orders, you are responsible for adequately packaging your skates for inbound shipping. Tough Cut is not liable for damage caused during inbound transit. Optional shipping insurance is available at checkout for return shipment. Once in our possession, we handle equipment with professional care.
9. Cancellations & Refunds
- Drop-off: You may cancel a scheduled drop-off with reasonable notice at no charge. Payment is only collected at service completion.
- Shop Appointments: Shop appointment cancellations made 24 hours in advance are free of penalty. A $20 cancellation fee may be charged to the payment method on file for cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.
- Shop Appointment No-Shows: Failure to appear for a scheduled shop visit without notice may result in a charge for the full cost of the scheduled appointment.
- Cancellation requests submitted through the app are reviewed by Tough Cut. Fees are applied at our discretion and may be waived as a courtesy. You will receive email confirmation of the outcome.
- Mail-In: If you cancel before we begin service, your authorization hold will be released. If service has begun, cancellation is not possible.
- Memberships: Subject to the Cancellation Policy described in Section 5 above.
- Marketplace Listing Fees: Non-refundable once a listing is activated.
10. SMS / Text Messaging Consent
By providing your mobile phone number and checking one or more SMS opt-in boxes during registration or in your Account settings, you expressly consent to receive text messages from Tough Cut in the categories you selected: transactional order and appointment updates, shop alerts and closure notices, and/or marketing messages. Each category requires its own separate consent.
- Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase of any product or service.
- Message frequency varies based on your account activity and selected categories.
- Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.
- You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by updating your preferences under "Phone & Text Alerts" in your Account settings. Reply HELP for help.
- Your mobile information and messaging consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse this application, including but not limited to: submitting fraudulent orders, manipulating pricing, circumventing access controls, or using the platform for any unlawful purpose. Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

All content, branding, logos, and design elements of this application are the property of Tough Cut LLC and may not be reproduced without written permission.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
This application and its services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the application.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tough Cut LLC's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 90 days preceding the claim.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tennessee.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
